| Description | A work team was formed at the Ministry of Electricity to review means to save & rationalize energy consumption at all government & public agencies buildings. Team would also analyze the use of that energy whether for lighting, feeding electric appliances or window type air conditioners. Here a concept is considered to replace regular air conditioners with central air conditioning (which could possibly depend on natural gas). The measure was needed after annual energy consumption in those buildings reached L.E. 1.2 billion, making almost 10.2 % of the country total consumption. Egypt energy consumption grew annually by 7.7 % over the past 5 years & that is placing huge burdens on the public treasury & the state budgets. |
