| Description | Ministry of Water Resources is said to be evaluating the feasibility of desalinating some 10 billion M3 of semi salty underground water. Desalination costs are 30 – 60 % less than seawater desalination. The Minister, Dr. Eng. Mahmoud Abu Zeid, said at present there are some 150 million M3 of underground water used in irrigation, public utilities, & tourist projects along the Red Sea coast & at other remote areas. He indicated that desalination of semi salty underground water would represent an additional strategic resource to support development projects at several coastal & remote areas, also in new cities & new urban societies. [Above sends good news to eligible water wells drilling contractors, also to manufacturers & suppliers of down-hole equipment such as casings, screens & pumps.] |
