| Description | : | With $ 4 billion average annual revenues, Egypt tourism sector is turning into the country first foreign currency earner. Minister of Tourism, Dr. Mamdouh Al Beltagi, said at such level, the sector revenues make 11.3 % of GDP & cover almost 42 % of the deficit in the balance of trade. Still he noted that the existing hotel rooms capacity, now put at 137,000 rooms, is still relatively low considering the fast growth of tourists number witnessed, particularly since June 2003. He indicated that such capacity reaches 240,000 rooms in Tunisia, catering for 5.2 million tourists annually. |
