| Description | Egypt Minister of State for Military Production, Dr. Eng. Sayed Meshaal, said that the Military Production Sector is now evaluating the feasibility of the local production/ assembly of railway locomotives. He revealed that a delegation of General Motors, of the US, would soon arrive in Cairo to discuss the issue. Meanwhile the Minister has revealed that a reasonably sized relocation scheme of the military factories is also evaluated. It aims at relocating those factories at Abu Zaabal desert, away from the residential block in Maadi & Shoubra. [To which extent the locomotives scheme would also extend to the rehabilitation & overhauling of existing locomotives out of operation, that remains to be seen]. |
