| Description | Years long pending electrified rapid traffic system project to link Cairo with Tenth of Ramadan City, also with Al Obour, Al Shorouk & Badr cities, seems now revived. A relevant memorandum of understanding was recently signed between ENR - Egyptian National Railways Authority & members of the consortium promoting the project, involving L.E. 3.3 billion estimated investments. The memorandum is based on the international cooperation protocol reached earlier between the Egyptian Ministry of Transport & the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public works & Water Resources. According to Dr. Mahmoud Soliman, head of the Tenth of Ramadan City Investors Society, the scheme goes under an alliance of both the public & private sector. Project first phase, involving L.E. 1.8 billion estimated investments, would have a 75 % foreign currency component, providing for a rolling stock of 75 trains. It is scheduled for completion in 3 years. |
