| Description | In his speech to the 5th Conference on Edible Oils & Fats Industry, held recently in Cairo, Prime Minister Dr. Atef Ebeid has announced that Arab countries annual demand on edible oils & fats is now put at 5.5 million tons & is predicted to reach 7.5 million tons by year 2015, with actual production now limited to 2.5 million tons only. He stressed the great need to draw a Pan Arab strategy for that industry to get closer to self-sufficiency in that sector. He indicated that Egypt alone is importing almost 80 % of its annual requirements of edible oils & fats. |
