| Description | BG, Petronas & Gas de France have recently signed on the $ 950 million final finance package to back the first line of Edkou gas liquification scheme. That paves the way for drawing the first trench of the package put at $ 600 million. The line is scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2005 to start exporting the output to France under a 20 years contract concluded earlier. The line has an annual design capacity of 3.6 million tons. Interesting is that the above indicated finance package involved $ 155 million loans extended by Egyptian banks with the remaining bulk of $ 795 million covered by international banks including $ 189 million from EIB – European Investment Bank & $ 189 million from the Euromed Investment Bank. (Meanwhile a similar finance package is probably now in the pipeline to back the second liquification division at the same complex where BG has earlier expressed interest to buy out its full design capacity for export abroad). |
