| Description | Egypt Minister of Tourism announcing Egypt hotels capacity reached 142,000 rooms by April 2004 & that it has been annually growing by 8.8 % since 1993, against a yearly growth in the number of tourists put at 9.9 %. He revealed that the said hotel capacities are distributed mainly in six areas including Southern Sinai, with 241 tourist establishments / 42,478 beds, followed by the Red Sea, with 189 establishments/ 36,985 beds. Third ranking is Greater Cairo with 152 establishments/ 22,094 beds, followed by Cruisers on the Nile & the Red Sea with 274 establishments/ 15,241 beds. Fifth ranking is Alexandria with 95 establishments/ 8,081 beds followed by Suez Canal Cities [Suez, Ismailiya & Port Said] with 51 establishments/ 4,943 beds. The list further includes Lower Egypt zone, with 45 establishments/ 1,699 beds, Upper Egypt, with 37 establishments/ 1,420 beds & North Sinai, with 9 establishments/ 597 beds. |
