| Description | Backed by USAID grant of $ 49 million, Alexandria Potable Water Utility has recently awarded a contract to a US consortium for the rehabilitation/ replacement of 109 Km long potable water pipelines in Alexandria made of ductile cast iron. Consortium groups Morganti Co. and AIC Co. Project consultant is MWH – Montgomery Watson Harza. Total project costs are put at $ 65 million of which the equivalent of $ 16 million (about L.E. 80 million) to be raised by the client to cover the project local component. Project, scheduled for completion by September 2005, also provides for upgrading the efficiency of 7 existing water treatment plants & improving quality of water produced by them. |
